@climbingjohn  •  Product Designer / AI Design Engineer  •  Salt Lake City, UT

Professional figure-it-outer, who thrives in high-ambiguity environments.

For 24 years, I’ve made a career out of being a professional figure-it-outer. I blend product design, frontend development, AI, SEO, marketing, and business strategy to turn ideas into things that actually succeed for what teams need in the moment. Along the way, I’ve helped 300+ companies, designed for multiple successful 0-1 startups as their first design hire, and built+sold several businesses of my own.

I move fast because experience helps me know where to slow down, what to question, and which data matters at the current stage of the company.

What makes me different?

  • When being an entrepreneur is your main hobby, you are forced to learn everything under the sun and figure-it-out. I’ve launched 40+ small business ideas, run a six-figure e-commerce business, and have sold many of them. This has forced me to learn, experiment, and constantly evolve my entire life.
  • I use AI everyday – design workflows, photography, video, automating tasks and content. I try to stay on top of the best software.
  • Design is not a job – its a career, passion and hobby.
  • 0-1 and high ambiguity is my speciality, especially when I have an awesome team working with me.
